ANNUAL AWARDS DINNER
Caucus Honors for the year 2007 were awarded to Paul Attanasio and Katie Jacobs, Producers of the Year, with Larry Gelbart winning the same spot in the Writer category, Michael Zinberg, Director, and Gary Sinese topping the Actor/Hyphenate category, by the Caucus for Television Produces, Writers & Directors Friday night (7) at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Caucus Chair Vin Di Bona , who headlined the black tie gala with Foundation President Chuck Fries and Lee Miller as Event Chairs, signified the Silver Anniversary of 25 years of Caucus /awards presentations to key creative members of the television industry. To celebrate the anniversary and look to the future, Di Bona announced the first New Vision Award to Writer, Producer and Director Marshall Herskovitz. Voted unanimously by the Caucus Steering Committee, Di Bona pointed out Herskovitz was
selected for the special honor for his achievements in all three creative areas served by the Caucus. Adding to his laurels, event chair Fries pointed out Herskovitz and his partner, Ed Zwick, have launched a new series on the internet entitled “quarterlife,” a digital series on the cutting edge of new media content production and distribution.” .
Herskovitz joined key industry figures also saluted at the event, including Pat Mitchell, President/CEO, Paley Center for Media, honored with the Chair Award; producer Anne Hopkins, Caucus Lifetime Achievement; Entertainment Studios Chair Byron Allen, Diversity; producer/writer Sally Hampton, Caucus Distinguished Service, and Film Critic/Historian Leonard Maltin, Journalism Award. Hosted by “Entertainment Tonight” on air personality Jann Carl, the ceremony participants included Tom Sherak, Scott Bakula, Marian Rees, Amanda Brooks, Leonard Hill, Paul Haggis, Fred Willard, Steve Guttenberg and Catherine Dent, with Antonia Raftu functioning as Award’s Hostess.
In a separate announcement, Caucus Foundation Co-Founder and President Fries and Vice President Bonny Dore presented the Gold Circle Award for year’s Outstanding Student Film to San Diego State student Kevin G. King for his film “Dark and Bloody Ground,” and second place to Hezekiah Lewis, of UCLA, for “Warrior Queen.” Both students receive cash awards to complete their films, as well as in kind services. camera package from Panavision, represented on the program by Ric Halpern, and a Hi-Def post-production package from Illuminate, represented by Jim Hardy. The Gold Circle was inaugurated to honor Fred Goldey by Caucus Foundation Board member John Berzner, who was an outstanding producer who mentored young filmmakers. The

The Caucus for Television Producers, Writers & Directors is the principal multi-guild professional organization mentoring television producers, writers and directors in their
negotiations with the cable and broadcast networks for their creative rights. It strives to make an impact on the industry in supporting opponents of media consolidation and has as its major goal the improvement in the quality of television for the general audience.
In the past year, the Caucus has been in the forefront of industry awareness in industry growth of digital, mobile and the vast expansion of technology through industrywide panels.
