Rob Legato creates visual illusions for movies -- thinking deeply both about vfx's expanding tech power and the truly new creative processes that can result. After several years in television supervising effects on two Star Trek series, Rob joined
Digital Domain where he received an Academy Award nomination for his work on the visual effects of Apollo 13. He won his first Oscar in 1998 for his work on James Cameron's Titanic, and then in 2012 was awarded his second Oscar for Scorsese's Hugo.
He's worked with the big effects houses like Sony Imageworks and Digital Domain, but is now fascinated with the nimble new workflows made possible with digital tools. Rob is currently the vfx supervisor, second unit director and second unit DP for Martin Scorsese's most recent film,
The Wolf of Wall Street.
