JOHN LANGLEY
A director, writer, and producer of television and film, John Langley is best known as the creator and executive producer of the long-running,
critically acclaimed reality television show COPS. About to enter its 20th season, first premiering on FOX in March 1989, the success of COPS
has certified Langley’s place in television history. A true pioneer of the reality television phenomenon, John Langley has established himself as
one of the premiere visionaries in the entertainment world.
Langley has received numerous recognitions for the series, including the American Television Award and four Emmy nominations. In addition,
he received the Cine Golden Eagle award and was the Houston International Film Festival winner for the documentary COCAINE BLUES.
He serves as a Trustee of the International Documentary Association (IDA) and is a Board Member of the
Ojai Film Festival – serving as Chair for its Blue Ribbon Jury for documentary films.
John Langley has sponsored a number of interns to help prepare them for a professional career most especially in the
documentary field and his commitment to the Ojai Film Festival for a $10,000 grant to an emerging documentarian.
Langley has produced numerous specials for network, cable and first-run syndication, including AMERICAN VICE:
THE DOPING OF A NATION, WHO MURDERED JFK among others and TERRORISM: TARGET USA. Langley Films has
produced various theatrical films including DOGWATCH, TIPTOES and WILDSIDE among others.
